Good Morning all! Happy Cinco De Mayo!! I am less than thrilled that I have been assigned to tortilla production today.... of all days! Busy week ahead, have an 8 tier wedding cake and crawfish boil/razorback grooms cake to make with no days off. Should be interesting to say the least... Have a sensational Sunday!!!

Thanks folks. That piece of granite was one of my clearance finds. Someone had ordered it at Lowes but the backsplash got broken, so they ended up marking down the countertop to about $200 bucks. I hired a guy to cut a few inches off for about $100. We installed it ourselves with the vanity. I bought some tumbled marble for the backsplash and hubby put them on the wall and I grouted the backsplash with a piping bag! HA!

Late morning all! I started my day with dog grooming for a friend. Now my allergies are going crazy so I figure I'll just go out and mow the yard...may as well make them worse!! Hopefully the grass is dry enough to mow. Gorgeous today and tomorrow and then more rain for the weekend!! Have a great day.

Hope you have some allergy meds you can take. Sinus headaches are no fun. Enjoy the day - it's gorgeous here too.

Good Morning Cake Junkies, what a morning, the usuals came in and now we are slowing down. It is our first really nice weekend, so I know everyone is out in their yards. Mike has two soccer games and then plans on working in the yard. I will be removing wallpaper later today. My friend said to score the paper and put a mixture of fabric softner & hot water let sit 15 min and off it comes. I will let you know how it goes. I still need to pick up a few things for the smaller bathroom. I am going with cherry

Did you get one of those thingies that score the wallpaper for you? I used mine a lot. I used so many different things for wallpaper removal - sometimes the fabric softener worked - other rooms I used vinegar and water or even soap and water. Depending on how much glue they used to put the wallpaper on it can range from very easy to difficult to remove. Oh - and use one of those trowels used for mud/taping drywall - they make good scrapers for taking off wallpaper!

.....or you could be "lazy" (or smart depending on how you look at it) and rent a steamer for removing wallpaper. They don't cost much and they work wonderfully. Even really old wallpaper comes right off.

Sally, I have a clothes steamer and that bathroom go so hot that I decided renting a steamer options are out. LOL my hair was going flat due to the steam.

Lookiing for advice. Most of you read the nasty email I got from the Groomsilla (couple) I dropped.The venue owner(s) is a friend from way back. We all know you have to keep in good standing with our venues to keep getting business. So question is: do I contact her and expain why I dropped them as I am sure they will hear about it and not in a good way. Would you call or send a short email & include the nasty email to back up why I dropped them. Putting friendship aside because business is business and I would

If you decide to contact the venue.. I would keep it very short. Just that you had an appt w/ one of their brides (don't mention groom) and it wasn't a good fit. Welcome the venue to contact you if they hear anything different or have any questions. AND thank them for their support and referrals.

I would Traci. I usually do emails because I can think about exactly how I want to phrase things and then give my phone number for them to call me if they want to talk in person. If this lady already knows you and the quality of your work then you are already way ahead of the game.

One of the owners used to date my husbands best friend. It has been years since weve seen her socially. I've been at the venue 4-5 times. When I look at my referral it says FaceBook is where she found me. So not from the venue. I guess I'll send an email I can think about the right wording. Good suggestion Sally! Thanks all.

Afternoon all! I've been a bit under the weather today with another cold; but, I've sat most of the day and worked on my OSSAS piece. I know that after next week time is going to fly by and I'll be up to my eye balls with uni work etc, so I need to get a head start on this. Hope everyone is having a great easter break!

That's so great Justin! (that you are starting your ossas -not being sick). Still trying to get my self organized enought to start on OSSAS... have tried a couple of orignial techniques.. .don't know if they would make it to Tulsa.

Funny how baking makes you feel better! I really didn't have time for it, but I baked chocolate chip cookies, ham, green bean casserole and potatoes au gratin (sp) today for a neighbor who's been in the hospital, and I suddenly feel in much better spirits than I did earlier today. I miss baking. Hope I am relocated soon and can get myself back into the kitchen!

I have been going into my catering kitchen, even when I don't have to, to bake cupcakes and give them away. It's just FUN!
